Trick or Treat Halloween Update
The spookiest update has arrived in 99 Nights in the Forest! Discover new characters, collect Candy, and unlock exclusive Halloween items.
Quick Navigation
The first part of three Halloween updates coming to 99 Nights in the Forest is here: Trick or Treat. You'll immediately notice the changes as you hop into the lobby and see a new pumpkin character. Speak with them to see their Halloween Shop filled with furniture, pets, and a new class you can spend Candy on to buy. Find out more about the Trick or Treat update in our guide below so you can start getting Candy!
What to Know About the Trick or Treat Halloween Update
The big new feature in this update, added on October 18, 2025, is trick or treating. You can now get a new Candy currency by trick-or-treating around the forest. Before you can do that, you'll need to get Halloween Candles and bring them to houses to help complete their decorations.
Just be careful because every time you trick or treat, there is a chance you may get a trick instead of a treat. But if you're lucky, you'll get rewards like Frog Boots, Candy, and coins. Fortunately, even if you're unlucky, you'll get Candy too.
Halloween Environment Changes
Aside from trick or treating, you'll also see other spooky changes around the forest:
- Cobwebs on trees creating an eerie atmosphere
- Spiders on trees (cosmetic only, but still creepy!)
- Costumes on cultists and deer
- Small cemetery with a chest inside a mausoleum
- Pumpkins scattered about to help with hunger management
The entire forest has transformed into a Halloween wonderland, making exploration more exciting and thematic than ever before!
How to Get Candy in 99 Nights in the Forest Halloween Event
Finding out how to get Candy in 99 Nights in the Forest is crucial if you want to buy from the Halloween Shop. Especially since you need it to get the new Trick or Treater class, even though they're only temporary.
As previously mentioned, before you can start trick-or-treating for rewards, you'll need to get Halloween Candles. This is because we're trying to help each house finish their decorations to get permission to trick or treat first.
Ways to Get Halloween Candles
- Randomly from looting chests
- Random drops from defeating Cultists
- Completing Cultist Waves
- Special Halloween events
Trick or Treating Process
Once you have a candle, bring it to a house so you can trick or treat there for rewards. All you have to do is drag the candle to a house's front door, and its lights will suddenly turn on. This means you can then trick or treat there at night.
Important: After trick or treating at a house, you'll need to bring back another candle to trick or treat on the next night. This makes it worth having multiple houses ready to go each night, especially if you're playing in a group.
Pro Tip: Beware of the deer since they can attack while you're trick-or-treating. You may be able to use a flashlight to keep them away during this cutscene.
Lobby Candy Locations
Aside from trick or treating for Candy, you can also find some hidden in the lobby before starting your game:
- Two hidden behind the sign showing Halloween 2025 updates
- One hidden behind the safe to the right of the Halloween pumpkin character
- Another one can spawn inside the pumpkin behind them
While not the most reliable way to get Candy (respawn rates are uncertain), it's always worth checking these spots when you're in the lobby!

The Halloween Shop first appeared with the Trick or Treat update, though not every item is available yet. Many of them are scheduled to appear one week from now when the Potion Making update releases, while two items will appear in just two days!
Important: Items with a clock icon next to them are temporary and will disappear after the Halloween event ends. Make sure to prioritize these!
